MEETING OF CREDITORS.
Estate of William Fife.
A meeting of creditors in the estate i of ffm. Fife, chemist, of FoatheratonJ waß bold in the Town Board Office, Featherston, to-day Friday, September Ist, at !) a.m, Mr W. B'. Ohcnnells, Deputy Official Assignee, presiding. No proved creditors were present, but Messrs Toogood, Gilpin, Riddick and Donald, who had not proved their claims, were in attendance.
Wm. Fife, the debior, oa oath, stated ; I started business in FeatherBton as » chemist, in 1886, without capital, I was in debt for my stuck, which was worth £MO, Two years ago I wassolvent,and since that time I have had sickness iu my family and was laid up myself four months, My wife And a child diod. Sbnrlund & Co's account has been contracted during the past two years, I have paid them money by meeting bills as thoy came duo until four or five months ago. Kempthorne, Prosser ft Co's account is for goods supplied on current account, 1), Anderson's WO js far money lent. W. Buckeridge's account L2B iB for rent, and the other expenses are ordinary trado and firmly expenses, Brown, Thompson & Go. and Sharland & Co, were pressing for payment, the former having summoned me some tirao sgo and I paid them a portion. They continued threatening proceedings. I have not given any Bcourity to anyone over my property, I have only kept a day book and ledger and cannot say'what my re'* ceipis find expenditure have' been during the pa,st th'rep years, Iliad no hanking account, I made an offer of fis in the£ to my creditors which was refusod. I am not sure that I can make an offer now. Business has been very poor during the past two years and I huvo lost in my business besides the' sickness' stated.' Kempthome, Proasar nr.d Co took a (isb of my stock about a month ago. iMy tenancy of the shop is from month to month at IBs 6d per weak. I hud notice to quit the premies before I filed. Ihavo no property other than stated, of any kind whatever.
