PAHIATUA NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) .Mr Taylor, of the original London syudioate which erected the Chester Butter Factories in New.Zealand, has takim over Mr Chester's factories in Pahiatua. I learn that it is the :n----tention of the syndicate not to erect any more faotoriea tins season, owing to heavy losses sustained by tost eea* son's operations. The weather still cities bad, whioh retards serious! f'aWorks, and the County have at tho present iimo no less than 58 men employed clearing slips, repairing roads, culverts, etc. Three horses have been killed recently by being bogged and through roads slipping awey, and in some cases the men in charge have had narrow escapes from death. .:.,•■
