Australians ut. Combined Universities. Tremendous Scoring. Losdos, August 1. The attendance at tho cricket match, Australians v. Combined Universities, was very large, and tba Weather was fine. The wicket was in excellent condition, The Australians Lava lost eight wickets for 805 runs. Following are the particular scores:— Lyons 51 Bannerraan 133 George Giffen 48 Trott CI Graham 88 Bruce ... 191 Trumble , ... 105 Turr.er, not out 56 W. Giffen, not out 40
Bannerman was at the wickets for six hours, and in the latter part of his innings only gave one chance, His score included fourteen 4's and eight B's, Graham played somewhat recklessly, but his partnership with Bannerman added 18G runs. Biuce hit brilliantly, hut gave somo chances, He hadTJHfv-tnreo 4's to bis credit, Trumble knocked the bowling all over the field, and he scored twelve bouudary hits. Turner and Walter Giffen both punished tho worn-out bowling, and just on the strok) of time for drawing the stumps for the day they had, with tho score of 805 for eight wickets, beaten the world's record,
Ten bowlers were tried to-day, and 88 changes wer« made, including even jßambridge and Wilson. fiOG runs were obtained in six hours, which is the highest aggregate for tho tour, The Australians were all out for 848. Turner, G6; W. Giffen, 62. The whole of the University team except Gay had a try at bowling.
