SERIOUS COACH ACCIDENT.

Wellington, Wednesday. The Postal authorities have received information from Lyell of a serious accident, which occurred to tho mail coacli running between Lyell and Rcofton. Tho coacli was driven by a man named Jones with tho following passengers: Mr and Mrs Mitchell, Messrs Burby and two sons, Fleming, Cummins, and Dixon. It left Lyell jesterday afternoon, and on reaching tho Bed Jackets, a portion of the bank gavo way, letting down the hind wheel, and the coach was precipitated over a bank, a distunco of 150 feet, on to the edge of the Duller river. When the accident occurred, the king bolt cituie out, aud the driver escaped by being pulled over the front of the coach by the team, Jones then hastened to the nearest station for assistance and a conveyance. No medical man being available, a doctor was sent from Wostport, Mr Mitclioll was knocked about on the head and faco, and is hardly recognisable and partly insensible, Mrs Mitchell had her back injured very seriously and she has completely lost tho use of her legs, Mr Fleming had a leg broken and was much kuocked about, Mr Dixon hod a leg and arm broken and was also a good deal knocked about. Mr (Jummina had arm either sprained or broken and a bad wound about the head, No further particulars as to whether the children were injured are to hand. The Postal Dcpaitment wired for all assistance to be tendered thesufferers.
