CORRESPONDENCE.
" Barracking," [To tho Editor W.D, Times'l Bm,—Excuse me writing on such a subject, but after witnessing tho football matoh played on Saturday last between the Masterton and Star Clubs, I think you will allow a few lines in tho interests of" fair play and courtesy." I was thoroughly disgusted at tho exhibition many on the Oval last Saturday made themselves, and I am not the only one, I oan assure you, by a long way. If any of the Star team distinguished themselves, the" barrackers" cheered enthusiastically, but if on tho other band a Masterton man happened to show up conspicuously in any good r)ointho,Wßsat once "hooted." Ie that fair play ? If a Masterton man waß thrown down hard, great cheerirg was indulged in, and remarks of tho followiog description passed: " Sit on him I" " Screw his neck I" and " ficrag him P hut if, on tlio other hand, ono of the Star players w»s thrown heavily, the crowd " hooted " and said that the opposing team were playing rough. It is a pity that the Rugby Football Union cannot devise some scheme to put down tho" idiots" who are so biased and one sided, and devoid of English blood, and to keep them off the ground altogether, A man, just because his favourite team is not good enough to win a match, to indulge in If hooting and barrfic)jing'j B|}ch as was shown last Saturday, deserves to bo kept off the football ground altogether, or until such time as be is possessed of at least a grain of common sense, or a spark of manliness, I am, etc., i' . "T,H," [Our correspondent m'nst acknowledge . tlist the principal offenders on Saturday were little ! boy«, who; as yet, donotbaoT,' anybetter.-toows]
