Judgment against the Commissioner. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Wellington, Monday. Mr Martin, R.M., give judgment (hia morning in a case nf considerable interest to bankers. Tho Tax Oommi ioner, Mr Orombio, sought to make the Banks furnish a return of the mortgages held by them, and to answer, questions as to the position of their customers for the purpose of enabling him to oheok their returns. Legal advice was taken, which led to the bank's refusal to supply the information, and to the best cause tried. Mr Martin held that the Commiasluner has no such power, and dismissed the case without costs, Mr Gully gavo notice of appeal
