TENUI NOTES.

K On Wednesday evening last Mr A, P, Murray, the popular manager of the Mataiknna Station, was enter tained at supper by about thirty of his friends at the 'Whakataki Hotel, on tbn occasion. of his leaving the • service of Messrs Johnston to look after his own property, Mr Me Hulclion was in the chair supported by Mr P.Johnston and.lliti guest of the evening, The .Chairman referred to the kiudlyfeelingtliHt had existed
between the settlers and Mr Murray, and expressed regret at that genllo-iv-.man's approaohing withdrawal from amongst them. Ho took the opportunity ofprosentiug Mr Murray with a purse of sovereigns as a slight token of the estoem they manifested towards him, The recipient thanked them heartily for tho kindness ho had'received from them during his stay amongst them. During tho evening several songs wero given, and the usual toasts note drunk. A most enjoyable evening was spent by those present. Mr Stuart catered in his usual excellent style.

Miss Caldwillg Mistress of the Grassendale School, has tendered her resignation to the School Commituc, as she is returning to Wangenui, The parents are exceedingly sorry to part with her as sho has given every satisfaction.
