A meetiug of ratepayers of the Alfredton riding of theWajnirftna^^m North Count; Council waffffinA^Hp&K Road Board Office, Alfredton, on Friday, June 30th. About 30 persous were present, Mr E. Smith oooupying the chair. He" explained that he had called the ratepayers together to consider a resolution passed at the laab meeting of th<t Road Board, rt altera* tion of boundaries of the riding. Ha considered that thejr proposed to hand over to the Eketahuua Road Board too much rateable property for the amount of County road going with it, Ho quoted figures to Bhow that about £20,000 of rateable property was proposed to be banded over, and only about 1| miles of County road. A boundary was submitted by the Chairman, which was not approved of by the persons interested. It was proposed by Mr Maquarie seconded by Mr Holmes Warren, as a compromise, that the following bbo« lions, Block 111., sec. 6,7, 8,9, 10. 11,12,15, Block IV., seo. 10,12,18, 1 16.16, 18, 19, 21, 22, 27, 28, 28a, 28b, 80, 30a, 80b, Block V., seo, 1, 4,8,9,12,15, and no County road be handed over to the Eketahuna Road Board, An aaiendment was moved by Mr Groves seconded by Mr Dunn the boundary agreed on by tho Board be the boundary between tlfwflH two ridings, ■

The motion was carried by a small majority,

It was resolved that the motion as carried be sent to the Boad Board at their next meeting on Saturday, ask-, ing them to adopt it as the bdundary, and to rescind their motion of last meeting.

The Chairman of the Eketahuna Eoad Board, who was present, was asked if he thought the Board would agree to the motion. He said he had no objeotion to the boundary proposed, and ho would submit it to tho meeting on Saturday for approval, The Chairman was asked if it was the custom for County Councillors to pass through toll gates free, or 1 ■ The Chairman expensed tint ho had not paid toll when on Ccwy business and the Council diiL-'jjßtw ject to this. It was moved by Mr S. M. George that the names of Messrs Macquarie, Dunderdale, and D, Boustead, be submitted to the Government for approval to form a Domain Trust.

A number of persons were appointed to watch the interests of the various wards, and consult with the councillor as to tlio requirements cf tlio werJs when the Road Board iB merged into the County, A vote of thanks to the Chairman brought tho meeting to a close.
