The Egmont Farmers' Union Limited, Hawera, June 22.
At our monthly Okniawa sale which was held on the 15th inst., there was rathor more stook yarded than was advertised. Cattle of all classes were in good demand, so that with two trifling exceptions every hoof was sold at the hammer, or immediately after the sale, The few lines of sheep entered did not reach'the reserves placed upon thorn, so were passed in unsold, We quote:—Fat bullocks, £6 2s6d; 2 to 2£ year steers, £4 6a to £4 8b Gd; cows and heifers in calf, £8 to £4l6s; springers, IB 15s to £9.
We held our usual fortnightly sale at Manaia on Wednesaay, tho 21at inst. The yards were moderately well filled with cattle of first-class duality, and there were also a few sheep. There waß a large attendance and brisk bidding for good steers and fat oattle, but cows and wives were rather dull of salo, still we managed to clear the bulk of tho stock entered, most business being doiie at the hammer, We quote:—Forward steers, £i 10s Gdi to £6 7s; 2to 2} year steers, £8 16s | 6d to £4los, fat oows and heifers, £4 1b to £5 is; cows in calf, £3los 10 £5 10s; woolly, lambs, 7s. , During the past week we have placed teccral large lines of stock privately.
