An excellent practise waß held on the Park Oval on Saturday by the Red Star Club, between thirty and forty members taking part. Teams were chosen by the captain and vice* captain (Wilaone and Hudson), and a fast and even game resulted. The ground web in rare trim for good play, and splendid form was shown by a number of the players, several now men showing up very conßpioouely. The game resulted in a win for Hudson's team by twelve points to their opponent's eight. Tries for tbe winners' were obtained by Hudson, Brady, and Wellington, the two former player converting theirs into goak For the losers, Wilsone, Kumrner, Dorset and Wrigley scored, none of the tries, however, being con* verted.

A match between the second fifteen of the Orientals and tbeGreytown Hard Cases was played on the Worksop Road ground/STSturday, and resulted in a win for the Orientals by 12 points (two goals and a try) to nil, The Orientals were heavier than their opponents, and they had the best of the game throughout. ' Tries were obtained by Marsh, Welch and Piokering, two of which were converted by Doughty and Marsh. Bowser, Doughty, and the three scorers played well for the home team, while' Hornblow, Sogerß, and Cook were the most conspicuous for town. A match between the Ist fifteens of the Maaterton and Groytown Clubs ws played at Greytown on Saturday, resulting in a win for the home team hy two points to nil, Neither team pi&Jfld full strength, Masterton being particularly weak and playing with six emergencies. The game was throughout a fust and open one, and a noticeable feature was the excellent kicking of the backs and the fine forward rushes. In the first spell E. Udy, by smart following up, scoied a try for Greytown, which Fd. Hawke failed to convert. Weloh (forwards), and D'Arcy and Bob Thompson (backs) shone moat conspicuously, although the play generally does not call for special comment, The match Fratharston v. 2nd Masterton, was played at Carterton on Saturday, reuniting in a win for Feathereton by 18, (4 tries aud a goal) to eight. For the winners both forwards and backs played woll, the most conspicuous being Smith, G. Burk, Neoio, Henderson, and Mc Carty. For the losers Jeffries, Bangt, J. Karatiana, Jumbo, and W.
