MASTERTON CEMETERY TRUST.
Special Meeting,
A special meeting of the Maaterlon Cemetery Trustees was held in ihe Borough Chambers at 8 p.m. yeslerday afternoon. Present: Messrs E. (Chairman), J, Payton and A. R. Bunny. The Chairman explained that the meeting had been called with refer* encc to the appointment of a Trustee to fill the position of Mr.R. M. Gal* loway, iesigned. Mr Darnell's name, had, at the suggestion ofthoWcsloyan body, been submitted to the.Governmeht, as it was customary b bare eaoh religious body' ropreseiited on the Tru«t. In reply tho following letter had been received by the Secretary from the Lands and Surrey Department
" Referring to your letter of the 12ih ult.'i'in whioh you intimate ithe resignation of Mr , IV.' M, Gallotyiy, aid time successor on the Cemetery Trust, I ■ have the honor to inform joa ftaj'Mij H. 'E. Eton; j.P.i ohemist, has beta suggested asasuitabjemeraber instead of Mr Daniell. -If you will concur in this proposal, Mr Eton will be gazet' ted in the usual way.
, lam, etc., A. Barms, U.S." As Jig (the Chairman) did not agree with the suggestion ho had finally decided to call a special meeting to dc '.l with the matter.

MrPaylon thought thoy. were .all agieedon that point,,.but still ,coiisiderrd they should go a step further. The Government had without any reason whatever, practically refused the Trasl's nominee, andtoshow their, error in, nominating, Mr Eftm-he would move :-p".:Thi\t the . His reason for moving in this direction wns that the present Government went in for popularity in all. they did, and bad on this' occasion made a mistake in their clioioe. .

Mr Bunny's motion was seconded by Mr Payton and carried.
Mr Pay ton's motion nnt being seconded,.accordingly lapsed., The mover, however, requested that a note of it be m ido on the minutes, which was agreed to. The meeting then adjourned.
