MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Ordinary Meeting.
The otdinary fortnightly meeting of the Masterton Borough Council was'held last evening. Present: Crs Heron (chairman), Hessey, Feist, Mutrie, W, l'erry, Yates and Chamberlain.
UINI'TES. The mimitei of the previous meeting were read and confirm'd.
COIIRBSrONDENCE, From G. Hopkins to clearing the Kurupuni creek unci offering to have it oleived in a few days,—The oiler was agreed ;o, From Mr 0. E, Daniell, re offer made to erect a ccaffold for fixing lighting conductor at the &as worksMr Daniell at the ptie - given iipproxima'oly, and lwToiiad it : would lake £5 for labour alone. He offeied to do tbe work for ibe £5 il (he Council would pay for the value of tbe damage done to tbe material. The Olerfc said tbe letter did not represent what had taken place, . , because he had told Mr Daniel! exactly what* was wanted and the . probable height of the scaffold.
The matter was referred to the Gas Committee.
From Mr E. E. Homblow applying to have his name placed on the roll in the, West Ward.—Tbo application was declared informal. \ From the Town Lauds Trust re Fire, Brigade Station, - Eeiolved 'tbnt Mr' Payton be applied to for leave to remove tbe Fire BiigndeStation.
WoBKS CoMMI'ITEE.' The report of the Works Committee was read and adopted.
' ' ORDINARY BUSINESS. Cr Feist reported that the state of tlie footpath at Kuripuni was very unsatisfactory'and suggested that the Workß Committee be instructed to have it attended to., . . Cr Messey stated that the Workß Committee had the matter under con" ! sideration, but there was diliiculty/iu getting suitable would also rafflir Resolved that the Works Com-' mittee be instructed to get tie footpath repaired.
It was ulso decided that while the weather was good and the river was low, the Overseer should attend to the footpaths in prcffireoco to other work,
liIBIIAIIY BUILDING. Besolved that tbo, leak in the new Library Building be attended to. .
bates 1893-4. Cr Heron moved the motion of which the Mayor had given notice re rates for the year 18934,—Carried,
WATia SUPPLY, In reply to a question, the Clerk stated that there hfd been no reply received from Messrs Williams and .Beethaui re the water supply from tlieir dam. Cr Feist drew attention to the state of the water tables in Queen-street, trnd it was considered thai it would be necessary to call for tenders to remove them. BUILDING BMAWB. The Building Inspector reported that Mr ; Collier had ereoted a shed, entirely of wood, in Renall-atreet,only 32ft. or 84ft. from'the other building, Besolved that the Surveyor be instated to take the necessary action to enforce the by-laws.
LWE Of ABSENCE. CrHessey asked for two months leave of absence, which was granted, The Council then adjourned.
