EKETAHUNA ROAD BOARD.

;". Ordinary Meeting, A meeting of the abovo Board was held on Saturday last. Present: Messrs T, Parsons (chairman), T. Baylies, A, Anderson, M. Noilson, F. W. H, Dowsott, and W. B. Mathcson, ,•■: Correspondence was received from the Colonial Secretary in answer lo a letter from Mr Timmins, asserting that the election of two members of tho Bpi>rd were illegal. The letter ' Tiramins was enclosed, From Mr Beard, solicitor, in ixplanation, that three members of the ' Board instead of two should have been ballotted out at tho last election. The Qovernor-in-Counoil can, how* ever, validate tho election. In the meantime all members are legally in office and are installed in such tflice until a successor is appointed. The balloting out of en'; member resulted in the retirement of Mr Dowsett. Prom A. Dunstall, Newman, requesting the Board to fall the bush on his road line. It was resolved that Mr Dunstall be allowed to fall the bnsh at 8s Gd per chain, , From Mr McNaugbton stating that he had fired a tree and it hod fallen j&jross the road and he had had to '■, ■ We it. Offer 8 accepted, Work to bo done iu two ; separate contracts. ' It was resolved that the Engineer ' be authorised to re-deck bridges in l Mangaone Valley, and strengthen ' them whero required. From Mrs Campin, asking that tho ditoh by her property at South Carterton he cleaned out,—Besolved that Mr Monaghan be instructed to attend to the work. From Mr King re tho state of the bridges in the Road Board district.— Besolved tbat Mr King have instructions to put the Wainuioru bridgo in repair aocording to his own suggestions. Besolved that the bank be ap* proached to extend tho Board's overdraft (^£l,ooo. Mrlp waited on the Board in reference to taking a road through some Native land at Burunuiorangi, The matter was deferred till the next meeting. It was moved by the Chairman, seconded by Mr Allen, that the Ranger receive no further payments from" tbhe Board, unless he follows but' his' instructions according 'to ofms of agreement, ' Mr Petersen Waited on the Board in reference to havipg a culvert shifted to its natural water course on Cobflen Road, to pre Wt the overflow Of water on to his property.- Resolved that the rnattet be left iu the handß pf the Warden. The repairing of two culverts on Mia Eaat TaratiJii- JRoad was left in the hands onPtywto (Mr .Rayner,) ."' : A-forgs deputation waited on the Board, of settlers from No G Ward, asking tbat they be separated from No 6 Word and joined to No 5 Ward. A petition was handed in and read by the Chairman, the ratepayers con sjdering that wbjle they remain as ratepayers jn the twp .Wards, it is unlikely that they will repeive the same consideration as they would by becoming ratepayers to one. Ward only. • The matter was deferred till the next meeting for further consideration, Mr Bailey waited on the ■ Board, to aßk that about three chains of road be ' cut leading to bis property, to enable him m get to and from instead of baying to go though priya|eptppyity.

The matter was left in the bands of the Warden, ■, _. ,/• Resolved thatthe Warden, underthe supervision of Mr Darrocb, attend to the protection works on theßelevedore Road, where the Mungtttcrere River is encroaching, Resolved that a committee of members of the Board in connection with members of the Carterton Borough Council, inspect the bridgo on Dalefield Road, and report at tho next meeting. Some accounts were passed for payment and theineoling adjourned,
