Sentences Passed. A Jury Locked up All' Night. (By Telegraph,-Press Association,)' Wellington, Wednesday, Geoi'go Triggs for breaking and entering a shop in Wellington has bceu sentenced to one year's imprisonment. Bis Honour Judge Richmond said it was evidont that the accused was not •alone in the offence, otherwise a heavier sentence would have been inflicted, Harry Poulsen, the young man chargca with larceny from a person at Eketahuna was sentenced to two years hard labor. In tho caso of George Gordon, charged with laroeny at Masterton, the jury wore unable V) agreo and after being locked] up all night, wero discharged. The Crown Prosecutor entered a noh prosequi, aud tho accused was discharged. Later, In sentencing Poulsen for robbery from the person of Alfred Peters, at Ekeiahuna in March last, Judge Bichmond reminded accused that he had already served a sentence of two years for robbery with violence He was one of those young men who had sot their faces against society, but he would find society too strong for him,

GOLD MINING.

The shareholders of the Saxon Gold Mining Company, at the Thames, have resolved to increase their capital by the issue of two hundred thousand new shares of ten shillings each, with the view of acquiring other mining properties at the Thames, by amalgamation or otherwise, and also for the formation of a scheme for prospecting and working tho deeper levels,
