The principal event was curried off by Mr F. Pea'cf, who rode " Nuts" nominated by Mib JlcEae. A lot of amusement was caused in this competition by the lady nominators, eomo of whom were so anxious to thread tlio needle that they could not manage it all, The Uigur and Umbrella Competition and the Change Competition Were very amusing, the latter causing a lot of fun tbrongh the way in which the boys icrambled after the Oranges, which fell from the plates carried by the No accidents of any kind ocoui red, and although the number of competitors was very large only two slight spills occuued, Mr William McKenzie, the gonial Secretary, worked like a Trojan, ;ind was ably assisted by Mr Nat Grace as judge, and Mr F. C. Lewis as Starter. Mr J. Wol'er carried out ilib duties of Clerk of the course, impartially. The jumping was really splendid, and showed some of the animals to be in grand hunting trim, The first prize was awarded to J. Robinson who rode R. Roake's "U. 8.," the second to Mcintosh on E. Hooker obtaining first place, Harold Welch second, and W. Buckeridge third. It was then decided , to ride off over the hunting jumps | with three oranges each, the result being ut tie for first place between C, R. Bidwill and Harold Welch with Edward Hariw third. The first two rode again and tied a second timo after which they agreed to divide. We must not forget to remark that Pearson's Band played a number of selections during the afternoon, which added not a little to the day's enjoyment. A refreshment booth, managed by Mr T. C. Rayner, was on the ground, and appeared to do a good business, _____________
