CASTLEPOINT ROAD BOARD.

Annual Meeting.

The annual meeting lapsed for want of a quorum, Messrs Maunsell and Langdon only, being present. The meeting of ratepayers was held at 2 p.m. There were about twelve present, Mr J. P. Maunsell in the chair. Tho balance sheet and statement of assets and liabilities were read. Tbe general account showed a credit balance of £2OB 12s, and the assets were statod at £062 18s Bd, and the liabilities at £179 Is 3d. This the Chairman said he considered very satisfactory as they would require but a small rate for the current year. He also stated that if any ratepayer had any questions to ask in connection with the Board matters he was at liberty to do so,

Maunsell explained that the requirements of tbe Castle Point Biding were so much in excess of its revenue that there was not sufficient money to carry out the necessary improvements, and he suggested to ratepayers that by merging small Road Boards or increasing them, or dividing the county eo that only one body would levy rates, would tend to reduce the cost of management and increase the amount for expendituro, The balance sheet was adopted as read, subjeo t to audit inspection b tho Auditor -General, and the meeting terminated.
