The actual revenue from the rail-

ways for the past financial year hag now been definitely ascertained. It amounts to £1,181,521, As for the expenditure it has not yet been fully worked out, inasmuch 03 the balancof the store accounts is not quite completed, but the work is sufficiently far advanced to warrant the statement that it will amount to £782,100, which will leave a net revenue for the year of £449,421. This is a few thousands over a return of 3 per cent on the capital coßt of working llie railways, and exceeds by £26,000 the Commissioners' estimate, which was £423,000. This is the largest percentage yet yielded by the railways, as the following briof statement will show.
