MASTERTON SCHOOLS.
Annual Meeting holders, - About thirty householders assembled in tlie Maatertou Main School last evening for the purpose of electing a new School Committee. Mr Edwin Feist was eleoted Chairman of the meeting, The Committeo'e report was read and also the balance sheet, The Chairman said, in moving the adoption, he had one or two remarks to make, He wus pleased to see a few more present than at tbo last election, but still they were not a largo crowd, Ho took tbia rather as a compliment, as showing that the householders wero satisfied with the Committee's 'ad* ministration, He was pleased to stats that they wore in perfect harmony with the Board and with tbo teachers. They were proud of their teacberß, Mr Jackson and the others, havng dono ?ood work during the year. One of tho papers had said " that tho Committee had nothing to do and had done it well," He did not think this was the case, A strenuous effort had been made to ourtail expendftjjp, and amongst other things they*l?d decided not to publish the balanco sheet this year, thas saying £2, that having been the cost od pterious occasions. .This was simply a step in tbedireotion of ceonomy, and he did not think tho householders would complain about it. They had also made representation to the Education Board re important repairs and alteration to the schools, which be hsd every reason to behove, would be carried out. Ho aid not think it was necessary to say any more on tbo motion. Mr James Russell the motion that the renoi«opted was carried.
