FIRE AT ADDINGTON.

At eleven o'clock ilas.b'nighbi fiie broke out in a large store at Adding, ton, occupied by the Canterbury Seed Gniapany. .Owing to tho difficulty of finding water, it was an hour before steam engines got to work. The building and contents were by this time nearly destroyed. Tho brigade then, turned its attention to saving a large, malt liousa adjoining tlie fire, containing 'in; very large stock of grassseed and graiii, which with thecxception of a lew bags was destroyed. The store is the largest in Christchurch and covered a quarter of an acre of ground. It was built of wood. It ut unknown how. tho fire , originated, the store being locked'atw o'clock on Saturday. Ko .one is known to have been in tho building since, ' A gas engine. was used for the purpose of running the machinery, but there, was no ire in the engine room,
