WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY COUNCIL.

C, Buchanan, and J, Martin: The Treasurer reported tho bank overdraft £43 Gs 4d, Duo from Charitable Aid Board, £ls 7s lid, A general statement of accounts for the past year was read by the Clerk. A letter was read from the Featherston Road Board asking what; asßistanco the Council could give towards putting the Road over the Rimutaka into order for traffic

Cr Motthews stated that a rough estimate, made by the overseer of! Eoads, was that it would take £4lO, Ho would rnovo that tho consider-; •ation of tho letter bo deferred, till the pest meeting, . . . ,

After somo discussion the motion was put and carried. Or Martin moved, and Cc Matthews seconded pro /onna that a return be placed before tbo next mooting of tlie Council of rates collected from property adjacent to the County road and also the amount of expenditure on the County Eoad to extend it a milo back from tbo main road.

After a deal of discussion tho motion was carried on tho casting vote of tho Chairman.

The by-law in respect to the traffic of traction engines on all roads within tho South County (with tiomo slight amendments) was adopted. It was resolved that a County rate of 1-12 th of a penny in tho pound be levied for the year ending 31st March 1891.
