[Bv WILIOW.j Tho return match Akitio v Wainui was played at Akitio on Saturday, the Mil March, resulting in faror of Ak|io by 16 rum, (The first match by Wainui by 18 runs), Akitio eleven wcro first at the wickets, and were disposed of for tho ridiculously small score of nine runs. Dr Kiddle and W. Speedy bowled exceedingly well, the former taking four wickets for two runs. Wainui with tho willow, cotiid JB3p manage 2D runs, as Messrs ArmsigKy and Horton were well on the tho second innings Akitio pulled themselves together, and Holland, (the' not out in the first innings with three) put an additional 15 to bis score with vory good cricket indeod. Armstrong and Horton made a stand and scored 12 and 21 respectively, the innings closing ior G9, leaving Wainui 60 to get to win, of which they only succeeded in obtaining t)5. Ball, of Wainui, batted very well in both innings. The fielding on both sides was very good. For Wainui James Speedy's backstopplng was universally admired. Also W. Cittadini—quite a boy-did good service in the field and promises to be a good all round crieketer. Ho is very smart in picking up cleanly, and a good quick return, For Akitio Johnstone and Armstrong mado two splendid catches in the slips, and Sinclair received a one-handed catch at point, low down, This was the catch of the day and was greatly ap< plauded. Fisher bowled well. He is a new man in the district, left banded, and has a nasty break—diffioull to play, I Bhould say-on a dry wicket, - Armstrong's bowling was veryH effective. Ho has improved round of late.
