ALFREDTON ROAD BOARD.
Ordinary Meeting.
l'be ordinary meeting of the above Board waaheld on April Ist. Present: Messrs H, Dunn (chairman), J. Q, Groves, H. Warren, C, Kebbell, F, P. Nelson and J. Eouatead. Inwards correspondence was i'c-> ceivedfrom Bank of N. Z. acknowledging cheque £l6 7s 3d, [""FronfOlerk of Mauvicevillo Hoad Board re loan. From D. McLachlan (for W.N.O.C. Engineer) giving estimates for Pali Valley itoad, contracts No. 2 and 3, Prom B. P. Greville stating that he will supervise contracts for 8%. —The Clerk stated that tho Committee had accepted Mr Greville's offer, From tho Treasury giving a note of 4 %, added to loan, From Wairarapa North County Council, agreeing to undertake construction of the Tiraumea bridge, on conditions mentioned by Board. From Department of Lands and Survey enclosing proclamation for Ihuraua Valley Road prepared aud sent forward for signature. From the County Clerk rc alterations between Maurioeville, Eketahum and Cashpoint Road Districts, —lt was resolved that the Clerk write to the Koad Boards interested with regard to the proposed alterations of their boundaries, and aek them to appoint delegates consisting of the Chairmen of the Boards interested, to discuss and settle the matter in Masterton, and that the day should be appointed by tho delegates themselves. It was resolved that tho Olerk write to the Clerk of tho W.N.0.C., stating that tho Board is in communication with the different Boad Boards, suggesting that the Chairmen bo appointed to act as delegates at a proposed conference. From tho Bank of N,Z,, acknowledging £sl 18s sd.
Mr.A, W. Hogg, U,H.E., wrote re proposed Saunder's Road loan and enclosing a letter from the Colonial Treasurer.
I A letter was received from Kennedy jand Co., stating that tbey proponed stopping any wheel traffic on the first 60 chains of Mnngaone Road, and requesting the Board to take over the samo.—lt was decided that the Olerk write to Messrs Kennedy and Co., stating that they have given Mr Greville authority to take over tho road, on the Board's behalf, aB soon as he considers fit to paßs tbe sarre, The Olerk was instructed to write to Mr Greville, requesting him to take over the 60 chains when ho considers fit to pass tbe work. Mr R. P. Greville wrote, request-1 ing plans and specifications of Pah and Mangaono Road workß, and thanking tho Board for accepting his offer for supervision, and also giving report of work done, and recommending a payment of £IOO to Messrs Kennedy and Co. 1), McLacblan wrote, recommending £BO for payment on Pori Road Contract No. 1. A letter was received from H. A. Lambert, re appointing someone to look after tho contract.
I'rom Department of Land and Survey, rt plans, stating tfaat the Board would havo to advertise the proposal and Bond a copy of (bo paper in whiob it appears. It waa resolved tbat a resolution passed on Juno 25th, 1889, be rescinded, and tbat the advertising hereafter be given in equal shares to the Daily Times and Eketahuna and Palliatu a Mail; all tenders to be advertised in both papers. Notice of special order, striking a special rate of one shilling in the £. for Mount Baker Boad loan was given, Resolved that the work on Mount Baker Boad be started at once, aufl also that the Government be askwß place the £BBO promised for hußt \ Baker Boad to the credit of tbdjflH account, aud that the 6overjjgHn informed that the poll is e^«H It was decided to meeting,of the ratepan^BßßH
at 10 a.m., and the annual meeting of the Board on the same day at noon. Messrs J. Bmislead and T, Hi Groves were appointed to sign oheques. Accounts amounting to £l4O 10bwere passed for payment, The next meeting of the Board will take place on May 6th,
