TARATAHI-CARTERTON ROAD BOARD.

Ordinary Meeting, The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday, present—Messrs H. R. Bunny (Chairman), E, Morgan, J.Kayner, W. B. Allen, H, Braithwaite and W.

Miller. The Treasnrer reported bank overdraft £l3lO Gssd, outstanding- rates £lB lOslOd. Correspondence was read from Mr A. Moody requesting a drain to be dug to keep the rain water from overflowing bis property. Left in the hands of the Warden. Front Mr Thos. Rayner re repairs to road, Lelt to the Warden. From East Coast settlers requesting tho Board to have the whole control in the expenditure of the thirds acoruing from those lands.—■ Resolved that the request be acceded to. Resolved that Mr Dorset bo em» powered to have the drain cleaned out at Somerset Road. Moved by the Chairman and seconded by Mr Rayner, that a general rate of |d in the £ be struck on all rateable proporty in the Road Board district, payable in one sum on or before the 15th April fast, Mr Jesson waited on the Board respecting a sum of £2 which lie has to pay in reference to a piece of land which he sold to the. Board, for a gravel pit.—After some discussion it was settled by paying the amount between the Board aud the vendor. Mr Millar waited on the Board in ; reference to some remuneration for damage to his contract by the recent | flood. He stated that a great deal of | the gravel was washed olean away. ! Owing to the financial state , of the Board tliey were informed that' t it waß quite impossible for the Board f to do anything at present, » The Overseer of roads stated that I there was a very good ford over the 3 stream, and it was resolved that the Overseer got the ford made passable 8 and also a foot bridge ereoted for the j convenience of pedestrians. \ Moved by thoi Chairman and sec* . onded by Mr Stevens, that the Cart terton Borough-Council be approached a in regard to purchasing a monkoy and appliances for tho use of the two local il bodies ior repairing of bridges. ,Mr Herrick's tender of 27s per jj chain for metalling the approaches o t the Kokatau bridge (about SO chains] h was accepted.
