W.A.A. AND CYCLING CLUB.

Presentation of Prizes.

The presentation of prizes won at the Giat annual sports, held under the außpicesof the W.A.A, and Oyoling Club, took place in the Drill Hall, Maslorton, last evening, a large number of ladies and gentlemen being present, at the invitation of the Committee, who had deoidod to further mark the atispioious ooension by holda social gathering. The affair turned out a decided success, and will no doubt do a great deal to increase the good feeling felt towards the new club. An excollent musical programme was arranged, opening with an overture by Mr C. Clifford's Maslorton Orchestra, followed by vocal selections by Mrs Mailer and Messrs Croxton, T. H. Jackson, Dash and W. J ago, Messrs Eton and Russell gave a mandolin and lianjo duet, and Mr B, P. Ginders ut violin solo. Evory item was well given and received with marked appreciation, Mrs Mnller's song obtaining for her a vociferouß encore. Tben followed the distribution of the trophies, before which important pieco of business His Worship the Mayor (Mr C. A, Pcivnall) nwdo a few remarks, highly complimenting the young club and partieulirly tho tuoci'Bsful compelilors, and announcing that Mis W, H, ilosking had kindly consented to distiibute the prizeß. 2 Mile Bicycle Race—lst prize, gold medal, G. S. Cooper, 250 yds Championship—let prize, Doctor Hosking's Gup, A, E.D'Arcy. 120 yds Hurdles—lat prize, gold medal, C. Perry; 2nd, silver medal, W. Broad. • r- One Mile Handicap—lst prize, Mr E. M. D. Whatman's trophy, 0, Pragnell ; 2nd, silver medal, E, Wolch.

Consolation—lat prizo,silver medal and Messrs White Js Thompson's prize, Pringle; 2nd, Messrs R, Hannah & Co.'s prize, Brabant. Every one of the recipients were loudly cheered as he received his re> ward, D'Aroy coming in for a perfect ovation when ho went up for the Championship Cup. The musical part of tho programme whs brought to a conclusion by naleo tions from Miss Cross, Mr C, Clifford, Mr A. R, Nicbolls and Mr Molloy, all of them being creditably rendered, after which the Hall was speedily cleared for dancing,which was entered into with spirit, and kept going to the music of Mr Clifford's Band until aftor midnight, when tho gathering broke up,
