GREYTOWN HOSPITAL.
The Annual Ball. (From Our Own Correspondent). A meeting of those interested in holding eithera Ball or Concert and dramatic pHrformance was held in Mr P. H. Wood's rooms last evening. Tho Rev T, B, Maclean was voted to the chair. Mr P. H. Wood, Hospital Secretary, read the advortisomont convening tho meeting, Tho Chairman remarked on tho success attending the Concert held in aid of the Queensland Huffercra, and said the Hospital Trustees had thought that if they could got up a concert with the same results, it would pay better than a ball, If it was decided to hold n hall all must be willing to assist, and not lot tho whole of tho work full on 'he shoulders of a few. The bull had m previous years been a most decided success. Me believed that Mr Wood would again uudertako the duties of Secretary il he was rendered assistance Mr Wood said that he was disappointed with the number present, as he had been led to believo that his room would not be large enough, and they would hivo to adjourn to the Palace Hall, The ball was an established annual affair. Some of tho most energetio workers of last year would not be able to again assist, iucluding Mr Skeet, who had been a tower of strength,both indisposing of tickets and collecting provisions, eto, If funds for the Hospital were not raised by either a ball or concert, a rate would have to be struck, Messrs Black, Cant, and Varuham had volunteered to work up a concert, Mr 11, 8, Izard proposed that the ball be held as usual, It waß an annual affair, and he was afraid that a concert wouldn't pay as well as a ball. He was glad that Mr Wood had not refused to act as Secretary; in fact, they could not got anyone as efficient. He had alwajß hitherto proved a most energetic and successful Secretary, Mr W' J, Knell seconded Mr Izard's proposition. Mr Wood Baid that he would undertake the clerical duties if Mr Izard would look after the preparation of tho hall. Mr Izatd agreed to this, On being put to the vote that a ball bo held it was carried without opposition, Mr Wood proposed, and Mr Tate seconded, that Friday, the 28th nit., bo tho date fixed (or the ball, tho motion being carried unanimously. It was decided that tho same committees be appointed as last year, and that tho price of tickets and the programmes be the samo, omitting the leap year dauce. The following were appointed a Ladies Committee of Management ; Mesdatnes J. Fuller, J. 'fully, J. Hodge, J, Cotter and F. H. Wood, The first meotinq of the Catering Committee will be held at Mr F, H. Wood's office on Friday, April sth, at 7.30. p.m. Arrangemontß for procuring the innsio wero left in the hands of the Secretary (Mr P. H. Wood).
