The fight over tho goods sheds site at the new Railway Station still goes on, A deputation waited on the City Council and Harbor Board this morning, and wero told there was no opposition to tho goods shod, but the Council objected to have their endowment, which was worth £GO,OOO destroyed by it if another site was available, and they believed another could be found. The Mayor souudly rated the depuUiou for the mistrust shown in tho local bodies who were protecting the town from spoliation, and forrgoing behind their backs to the Minister. Tho deputation admitted they had misunderstood the attitude of the Counoil, Representatives of the Council and the Board, then waited ou the Hon E. Seddon again and after a long discussion bo promised to lay tho matter before the Cabinet' l bofore coming to a final decision, It was suggested that the sheds should be built on Victoria Street, and the street shifted. It was also hinted that the proposal mado to the Government should bo to take the property opposite, and pay compensation but Mr Seddon scouted tho idea.
