THE ALLEGED DUMMYISM CASE.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) New Plymouth, March 15. Tho Land Board enquiry was resumed this mornin!;, and is very slowly proceeding. O'Donovan was again examined relative to certain observations he had made rotative to the section in dispute, and be was questioned by the Board regarding h ; s endeavours to buy the section for his brother, The manager of the Bank of Australasia produced a cheque of Hendy and Pease in favour of Mr Climie, surveyor, Two Natives gavo evidence as to ontting a bridle track for Pease. Percival Pease was giving evidence when the enquiry was adjourned.
A breeze occurred at the Land Board enquiry re the alleged dummyism cases, After tlie luncheon adjournment to-day Mr Kerr, partner with Mr Stimdis/i, Crown Prosecutor, who watches the proceedings for the Crown, stated he had received a copy of a telegram sent by Mr' O'Hara Smith to the Minister of Lands, complaining of Mr Kerr's conduct, and advising that Mr Standisb's engagement fur the Crown be cancelled, The ground of complaint was that Mr Kerr had shown Mr Samuel, solicitor for the defence, an authority which Mr Samuel quoted against the urgumcut of Mr Roy, who conducts the case for (ho Land Board. It was also alleged that Mr Kerr was really assisting counsel for the defence, Mr Kerr indignantly denied the accusation, and explained that Mr Smith had put a grossly false complexion on the facts, Mr Samuol asserted there was no truth whatever in Mr Smith's accusation, and stated that Mr Kerr bad not assisted him in any way, He called upon Mr Eoy, if he hud any regard for his reputation as a gentleman or lawyer, to disavow his sympathy with Mr Smith's action. Mr Kerr also challenged Mr Eoy to state whether Mr Smith's statements wore true, Mr Eoy said ho had nothing to do with the matter, but probably Mr Smith hud good reasons for his actions. Mr Samuel denounced Mr Roy's attitudo in tho strongest terms, and suggested that tho only reason must be that Mr Eoy desired to obtain the Crown Prosocutorship. After taking ovidence, the enquiry j was adjourned till to-morrow.
