The Fancy Bazaar. Tho grand fancy bazaar in aid of St, Patricks' Church, Mastcrton, which has been talked about for so long, was opened last evening by His Grace Archbishop Redwood, the Tbeatro being packed,
In a few well-chosen remarks His Grace explained tho object of the bazaar, and alluded in tho most complimentary terms to tho Rev. Father MoKenna, after which a band of little girls, dressed in the most tasteful and artistic mannerwent through the Maypole dance, reflecting the greatest credit upon their instructor, the Rev, Father McKenna, and hiß assistant, Miss Carrick.
After the Maypole dance the real business commenced, and tho ladies in charge of the various stalls went to work with a will, succeeding so well that at night tho total receipts amounted to considerably over £IOO, This was not surprising as some of the articles woro exceptionally well worth purchasing, and the Belters were watchful and numerous. Amongst others wo must mention the Mcsdaracs Montgomery, P. Hourigan, F, Chapman, each in charge of a fancy goods stall; Mrs Gashion the refreshment stall and Mrs P. Dickson the flower stall. (teacher at the Catuolio School) was kept busy at tho raffle table. At intervals during the evening Mr A, von Koisenberg's full Masterton Orchestra gavo the following selections, the excellent music adding not a little to the evening's enjoyment :—Overture, Irish airs; Selection, "II Trovatore"; Solo Polka, " Butterfly Ball" ; Waltz, " Clasping Hands"; Selection,"Maritana," Taken frem every point of view the the opening night of the Bazaar was a huge Buccess, and Father MoKenna and the ladies and gentlemen, who have worked with him, are to be congratulated on tho thoroughness of their work, The following were prizewinners in the raffles last night i—Mr Gruschow (goose); Mr Bunny (belt); Mr B.
