FOOTBALL.
A rumour has gained currenoy that the Masterton Football Club will not be formed this season, owing to several of the prominent players of last year retiring, but we are glad to be able to Btate on the best authority that the Masterton Club will he as strong, if not stronger, in point of players this year than any previous season. Of the first fifteen only three of tho older players have definitely decided to retire, and their places will be easily filled by new blood. The statement that eight of last years first fifteen are not to be active players this year may be taken for what it is worth. Harry Perry reckons by the time the cup matches commence lie will be fit to take his place, and all the others, with the exception of Joe Perry, Day, and perhaps Malcolm, will wear the red, black and yellow, if needs be, to uphold the reputation of tho Masterton Club, A meeting of the Club will shortly be held to make arrangements for the coming season.
The annual meeting of the Bee Star Footbsll Club will be held al the Empire Hotel on Tburaday March 16th.
A meeting is to be held in Greytown on Saturday evening to amalgamate the Five Brigade and Greytown Football Clubs, and form one eeuior combination,
