Militiaman Commits Suicide. [By Telegraph,-Press Association.] Dunedin, Monday. . Tho criminal sessions woro opened by Justice Denniston, who told the Grand Jury that the Chinaman, charged with stealing property, committed suicide this morning, John Barrowman, for cattle stealing was sentenced to 18 months, At the annual meeting of tho Standard Insurance Company, tho Chairman (Mr Held) said that under the new table the Company was much more heavily tawd than before, the inorease being something like 5 per, cent.
