ATTEMPTED MURDER AND SUICIDE AT CHRISTCHURCH.
[By Telegraph.—Preaa Association,] Uiimsiouußcu, March 5. About six o'clock yesterday ovening John Wild, formerly landlord of the Sawyers' Arms Hotel Papanui, but lately living privately at Papanui, shot and slightly wounded his daughter, aged 18. Ho went homo from town, got his gun and fired both barrels at her. Tho oontontß of tho first barrel slightly wounded hor in tho right side, the second shot missed, Ho then assaulted his wife with the butt of his gun, slightly injuring her, He then wont to his roomandcuthis throat, but the wound is not considered serious. Constable Hayc3 was sent for and removed Wild to tho hospital, Ho was at ono time of very intemperate habits but he was not drunk when ho oommitted the deed. No causo has been assigned but it is said thero wero domestic troubles.
