However much they might send they could not send too much. As the list waa not nearly full it was time it was taken round. He would movo that Mr Hfttbaway lake round tho list and gather what ho could. Cr Feist seconded and tho motion was carried. HIE WATER SUPPLY. The Mayor said there was one other matter which bo had to bring forward, Mr Williams was somewhat touchy in regard to letting them have water from the dam, in case they should assume proprietary rights, and thertforo wished the Council oOdt. Tho cost of from tho dam would, of course, fall on tho Borough, but as the increased supply would be beneficial to Messrs Williams and Beetham, they might be expected to co-operate with tho Council. Or Feist seconded the motion. Ik thought now the niattor was explained tho Council might grant the request, Or Heron thought in this case the application might be grantod, The Mayor said he had no particu larohjmion to tho present caso, but where were thoy to draw the line ? Tho congregation of the. Church was perhaps entitled to special exemption, and ho should be glad to give it, As the By-law stood, a resident had to roof the extension to existing premises with iron, and the ques tion of unsijjhtliness could not bo considered, Tho question of expenso between the shingles and llio iron for fourteen feet six inches of roof, was very trivial. He should oppose the application on these grounds. On a division being taken Cr Yates, Chamberlain and thu Mayor noted against the motion which was deelated earned. Tho Council then adjourned.
