MASTERTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
Tho nnnivereary soiree held in connection with Iho Masterton Proabytorian Church took place on Friday evening last, Notwithstanding the fact that tho night was very rough, tho affair passed nmnt successfully. An excellent tea, provided by the ladies ot the congregation, was partaken of by between sixty and seventy members of the Church, the tables being presided over by Mesdames Alexander and McGregor and the Misses McGregor, Feist and other lady friends, A public moating was afterwards held in tho Church at which tho report and balance-sheet for the past twelve months was read by Mr E. Feist, It was stated that all departments of. the congregational work had been carried on with vigour and an encouraging amount of success, and that the Sabbath sorvices as a whole had been well attended. The Church had lost one member by death, and a number of members had removed to other districts, notably the Forty-milo Bush, but there had been no cases of actual lapsing from membership during the year, Referring to the financial position, the report stated that tho maun I gcrs had been able to expend £BB on improvements to the Church property, and to wipe off a considerable debt. Great interest was being taken by the young people of tho Church in the Foreign Mission Work. Tho Sabbath School was also largely attended and efficiently conducted, The Sabbath offerings fortheyearwere: Masterton, £l5O Da 2d; Dreyertown, £llss sd; and Woodlands, £0 17s 7d ; and the total receipts from all sources £B9B 15s fld. The expenditure having been unusually heavy a slight debit balance (£l4) now remained. The report was considered to bo vory satisfactory, and was unanimously adopted. During the evening interesting addresses were dolivsred by tho Revs. Murray, Dukea and Gillies, and several nnthems were tastefully rendered by tho Church choir,
