Monthly Meeting. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Masterton School Coramitteo waß bold last evening, there being pre" sent Messrs E. il, Galloway (in the chair), Z. M, Hoar, W. G. Beard, W. BOHOOr, OLEANINQ. M. J, Symes, the school cleaner, tendered his resignation, It was decidod (o accept the same and to cull tenders for tho position. HEAL teacher's REPORT, Mr W. H. Jackson reported for the past month, as follows Number of children on tbo roll, 598; average attendaaco, <183; percentage of atten. dunce, 81. Tho school was opened on the 24th ultimo with a rather poor attendance; several children being given an extra week's holiday by their parents. Tho attendance is now good. Tho school windows required mending, and tho sashes repairing. With tho consent of tho Committee it was proposed to givo the children a halfholiday on Thurfday next, on the occasion of the Woirarapa A.A, and Cycling Gltib'a Sports. It \t«s decided lo grant the halfholiday. SCHOOL REPAIRS. A discussion as to putting in a pane of glass at tho Committee's exponse ensued. Mr Beard strongly opposed tho expenditure of their funds on any repairs to the school. It was timoto nsvert themselves. Ho would movo tliatllio Committeo expend nothing more on repairs to tho school building?. Mr Eastbopo seconded and the motion watt carried. INFANTS SCHOOL REPORT, Miss Keeling reported that over twenty new pupils had been admitted pince opening the new school. The averagoattendnncflfor llie month had been 81 with 10? on the roll, Two chairs and other articles were required. It was decided that the Secretary get 8 list of articles necessary f.r the. Infant's School from the Head Teacher and forward the same to the Boar ).
ACCOUNTS. The fallowing accounts wore passed for payment:-J. Bradford, 8s; B. T, Holmes, ,£2 2a 9d; Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association, 18s 2d; 1L E Horablow, lis; W. Dougall, 133 0(1. BUCK LIST, I A number of cases of irregularity in attend-ince were dealt with. MEETINGS. Mr Galloway moved and Mr Hoar seconded that the regular night of meeting be alteivd from Thursday to Tuesday ovetiing.—Carried.
