Ordinal y Meeting.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Mastcrton Borough Council was hold last evening. Present-His Worship the Mayor and Councillors Horon, Hessey, Dixon, Mutrio, Callen, Yates and Perry.

MINUTES. The minutes of tho last regulai meeting were read and confirmed,

CORRESPONDENCE. was received from Messrs Weller Bros., applying to be allowed to drive horses in charge of two or more competent drivers, from the Prince of Wales' Stables to the Education Reserve leased by theiu.

Burt, stating they | would be pleased to supply water mains to the Borough, From the Bev J, Dukes, on behalf of the Trustees of tho Wesleyan Church; submitting plans of the proposed alterations, and asking to he allowed to roof the additions with shingles. Cr Heron moved and Cr Dixon seconded that the same concession be granted as allowed Mr Neill, viz,:—That thoy he allowed to drive horses from the paddock beforo sovon in the morning,

Or Heron moved that Mr Hare's request bo granted and that ho be released from further payment of rent, Cr Cullen seconded and the motion was carried, USE OF WATERCART, The application of Mr Williams to borrow the water-cart was refused with regret as it was considered that the poison might remain in the cart and as a similar application had been previously refused, THE NOAWATAWA KOAD. The Mayor thought that Mr Perry's claim had better be referred to a Special Committee to view tho land and seo if the claim was reasonable, Ho would move that the claim bo referred to the Works Committee to report on at next meeting, Or Oullen secondod aud the motion wac carried, THE WATEK SCHEME,

Ths Mayor said that Councillors had probably seen tho result of tho interview with Mr Beetham re tho water supply. They were now awaiting Mr Beetham's report—so far satisfactory. Mr Beelham had promised to do his best to meet the wishes of the Council,

reports; The Overseer's report was read and referred to the Works Committee. The Gas Manager forwarded a rough estimate ot the cost of the erection of a coal shed, His estimate was £4B 4s, The Mayor proposed that the matter bo referred to tho Gas Committee with power to call tondors, Cr Heron seconded. Ho thought the work a necessary one.—The motion was carried. Or Dixon asked if any reduction would be made in railway freight if they received a large quantity of coal atone time, The Town Clerk oxplained that no reduction would be made for loss than 100 tons, ACCOUNTS, Accounts amounting to i2OG 15s 5d were passed for payment, ATKINSON MEMORIAL, Cr Heron asked if any monies had been received towards the proposed Atkinßon memorial, Tho Town Work Baid the oanvasser appointed had notyot roturnod his accounts. The Mayor moved that the canvasser be called upon to forward bis accounts at once, otherwise an enquiry will be instituted, The Council then adjourned,
