New Zealand Amateur Athletic Championship Meeting.

The Results. (By -Tdegraph.—Pkbs Association.) Wellington, Saturday. The Sports started punctually, . after the competitors and officials had been photographed. About one thousand peoplo were present at tho commencement. A strong wind was blowing down the ground. Tho following were the champion, ship events and results : 100 YAitn^ In tbo first a walk over. Won by a yard, lime 10 2-sth seconds. POLE JUMP, West (Canterbury) had a walk over for tho Pole Jump Championship. _ After two attempts ho cleared 10ft Jin, whioh is slightly over the standard. h MILE. The other two kept together till near the finish, when Thomas drew awav and won oasily. Tirao 7min 12 2-5 sees.

A splendid finish resulted the judges having some diffioulty in placing tho men. Taiaroa was the winner till reaching (he last hurdle, when Moir just squeezed past him. Time 1G 4-5 sees, ONE MILE, Eees (Canterbury) 1, Leggett (Canterbury) 2, Cooper (Wellington) 8, All started except Burls. Weekes gavo up at half the distance and Rees and Leggett went well to tho front. Rides gate up at thenext lap. Cooper made a good effort to overhaul the leaders but finished 15 yards behind Leggett, who was ten yards behind Eees, with Rankin last. Four competed, Postlethwaite, who was suffering from a woak ankle retired at sft 2in. None of the men could clear sft Cin, but Hayrick, of Palmerston North, and Gore, of Wellington, oleared sft sin, and lied for first place, with C. Gore third at sft 3in.
