RELIEF FOR QUEENSLAND.

[To tue Editor. Wairaiiapa D, T.]

Sir,—The peoplo of Masterton appreciate any good thing provided lor their amusement, as witness tho support given to Max O'Kell's entertainment. Whilst wo are enjoying ourselves and using tho good things provided for üb, whether as food for the mind or body, let us not forgot the awful sufferings of our brotbors and sisters in Queensland and tho terriblo outlook there is for them, Wo have had sufficient details of the disaster to know that thousands aro ruinpd and their homes utterly destroyed, The worst is not revealed yet for pestilential disease will surely follow in that hot climate. Sir, every man, woman and child in this district should of their ahundanco give something to help allovinto the distress caused by these floods. Every christian community should mako a special appeal for tho exercise of that charity which is the basis of Christianity, lam not competent to writoas I feel, but I hope you will take the matter up and that an organised appeal may bo made which would I am suro be heartily met. Certainly the people of Masterton will at this season of the year when tho prospect of a bountiful harvest is being realisod, one and all respond to to a proper appeal for relief to tbo heavily afflicted sufferers of Brisbane. I am, &0., M.N.
