The thirty-second information laid by tbe police against the Star Hotel was dismissed this morning, Mr Pownall, for the hotel, winning hands down. It is fairly evident either that the Star Hotel is conspicuous for misoonductaß oompared with other hotels in the town, or that the police are persecuting this particular establishment. Do the police exceed their duly, or is I the Licensing Aot unworkable ? In either case the Government ought to take action.
