Dunkdik, January 28,

Tbo quarterly communication of tho Grand Masonic Lodge of New Zca- > land was hold lass evening at tbo ' Hiram Masonio Hall, Cavershara. Some 115 representatives were ! prosont, members of the Craft coming from all parts of the Colony. Among the Grand Lodge officers prosent i wore:—The Grandmaster, Bro. A 1; ' Niccol (Auckland); P.G.M., Bro. H. Thomson (Christchurch); D.U.M., 1 Bro. A, Kayo (Ohristchurcli); and P.D.G.M., Bro. E. T. Gillon (Wellington), Tho roll of Lodges showed 86 holding under tho Grand Lodge. A telegram was received from Auckland asking for a charter for a new Lodge, to bo called the Auckland Lodge, This was granted, Tho quarterly report of the Board of Benevolonce showed a credit balnnce of L 421. The roport was adopted. Tho report from the Board of General Purposes was adopted with slight amendments, and Past Grand rank was conferred on Bros Past Masters Bishop and Hulbort in recognition of services in connection with tho es« tablishment of fho Grand Lodge, The Grand Master presented the Grand Secretary (Bev \V. Ronaldson) with an address from tho Lodges Hiram and Otago, The Grand Lodge closed at ] 1 p.m. and tho brethren adjourned to a. banquet. In replying to the toast of W.M., Grand Master M. Nicol said ho had never anticipated they would succeed as they had done in such a short time. Tho future of tbo Grand Lodge was now quite assured, and if they succeeded in carrying it un in the futuro as they bad done during tho past few yoars they would haye no reason to regret its establishment, They had overcome all their difficulties, and it only remained for thom now to show that they were really worthy of self-gov-ernment. Tho Freemasons of the Colony who now stood outside the Now Zealand Grand Lodge ought really to come forward and join them. The Grand Lodge had tho right to stand on their dignity until the others made the first approach, bat they could go on minding their own business and perfecting their own government, and they would very soon find that tho opposition would dwindle away. They bad now 8G lodges under their charter working together harmoniously, and all were active and prosperous. There was also every probability that during tho next 12 montlis the number would reach 100.

Dunedin, January 25. Tho first Convocation of tho Supremo Grand Royal Arch Chapter of New Zealand was held to-day, the visitors koiu tho North being prosent,

The reports and balance sheet showed that thero are now 12 Chap, tors and one Mark Lodge under the jurisdiction of tho Grand Chapter, and another Chapter was granted during tho proceedings. Thore i<i a credit balance of L3O 7s lOd. The following officers were elected:—First Grand Principal M.E, Coinp, Gillon, Wellington; second ditto, H. Thompson, Christchurch ; third ditto, W. B, A, Seandrett, Invereargill; Treasurer, Gtoig; W.N. Scribe. E, Williams; W.N. Scribe, N. Feldwick, Lnvercwgill; Chancellor, Elliott, Wellington; First Sojourner, Kidd, Auckland; 2nd, Dr Eobinson, New Plymouth; 3rd, Mundrum, Napier; Swordbearer, Konaldson, Dunedin; Superintendent of Works, Brown, Oamaru; Standard Bearer, McKolvie, Dunedin; Janitor, Masters, Wellington, The Supreme Committee of Management was appointed, consisting of the various offioers and Comps, Niccol, Donaldson and Porritt.
