LAWN TENNIS.
Wooduille-Pahiatw ut, Masterton, A lawn tennis match was played on the Mastcrton Club's ground yesterday, between teams representing Woodville and Pahiatua.and Masterton, the latter winning after an interesting game by 17 sets, the totals being:—Mastorton 24 sets; Woodville 7 sets. A large number of visitors were present during the game. The Bush team arrived by the early train from Eketahuna and re-1 turned by the evening train, the Masterton men entertaining them at lunch at Devonshire Houso. Play coramonced at about 10 80 a.m. and concluded at 6 p.m. Tho following aro the scores : singles : Bowden (Woodville) beat W. G. Beard (Mastnton 2 sots to loye; A. Elder (Masterton) beat Seymour (Woodville) 2 satß to love; W. Broad (Masterton) beat Crawford (Woodyille) 2 seta to love; A. D'Arcy (Mas • terton) beat fi, Smith (Pahiatua) 2 sets to love; D, Donald (Masterton) beat J. Lucena (Pahiatua) 2 seta to love; P. 0. Rowley (Masterton) beat C. Smith (Woodville) 2 sets to love. DOUBLES. C; Smith and Seymour beat Donald and D'Arcy, two sets to love; Donald and D'Aroy beat Crawford and H. Smith, two sets to love; Donald and D'Aroy beat Lucena and Bowden, two sets to love; Elder and Beard beat Crawford and H.
