Messrs Jones!and Oo.'s New
jStore, Most notj'ceable among the improvement till/ have recently taken plaoo in Eketauuna, is that of tlio enlargement o/ Messrs Jones arid CVs well known store. The old building, which did service for many years has been moved forward to the main road and a large addition made to it, so that there is now a frontage of 49 feet by a depth of 28 feet, tho new portion however, tuns back to a depth of 00 feet. The old portion of the building is occupied by the grocery and ironmongery departments. Here also tbo office remains. The new portion is dovoted to the drapery and clothing nnd fancy goods. Here we find Mr Jones has his private oflico, Leading from the drapery department a spacious show room, boot room, flitting room and workroom for the dressmakers is built, The whole of the building is lofty and remarkably well lit. Three largo windows lace the mam road, in which the goods in the various departments are displayed to great advantage.
The intornal arrangements appear to have been well-planned for the display of tho large variety of articles kept on tho premises to meet the ever increasing trade of the district, as well as for tho convenience of tho assistants, Tlio fittings nro neat and suitable and tbo whole arrangement reflects great credit on all who lmve taken part in the work. With tho increased fucilitios tbero is no doubt Mr Jones will he onabled to compete with the traders of larger centres and as the district grows bo will be rewarded for tho enterprise he has displayed in making his premises second to none in tho Forty-mile Bush.
