GREYTOWN NOTES.

A cricket match will be played at Greytown next Saturday afternoon between tho Ist and 2nd elevons of that township, the latter to have bowling assistance from the Ist if required. As tho cricket match between tho first teams of Greytown and Masterton will not take placo on the 28rd instant, tho Secretary of the former has telegraphed to the Midlands of Wellington, asking if a match could be arranged for that date at Greytown, There have, been several business changes J. Boere, cabinetmakt 'he premises known as Hirschherg's s tore nearly opposite Mr C, Rogers Hotol Mr B. H. Smith, hatter, clothier, etc., intends vacating his present shop in tho Palace Theatre and opening up in the premises opposito St. Luke's Church, and lately ocoupied by Mr Beore. Mr J. Wait, bookseller, will remove from tho present place into tho shop in the Palaco Theatre, and now ocoupied by Mr S, H. Smith, The reading room in the new council building has been altered from upstairs to the ground floor aud is a great improvement. Tho council room, which is only used about once a month is now situated where the reading room was. Tho latter is touch better patronised than it was in ■■skiLßito, and will no doubt be far winter evenings, ■(piny, warm, but light vain has beenfalling here for the past few days, wbiob will greatly increase tho growth-of the vegetables and crops. Entertainments bavo been conspicuous by their absence of late, which is perhaps a good thing, as money is a hi' scarce after the holidays, i Crops generally are looking Yory nealthy, and agcod yield is anticiKited.
