WELLINGTON HOSPITAL BLOCKED.
Scandalous Ouercrowding, Patients Refused Admission. (By Telegraph-Press Association). Wellington, Tueaday, At the meeting of the Hospital Trustees it was stated that owiug to overcrowding, patients had beon refused admission, Tho Rev Mr Van Stavoren said that Government had been repeatedly applied to to provide additional accommodation, but so far nothing had been dono. The medical superintendant had informed him that if the present condition continued it would lead to a public scandal. Three female patients bad already been refused admission, and unless extra accommodation was provided he would prefer to be relieved of responsibility. Mr Fraser, the Chairman, thought that the best cause to adopt would bo for the Trustpes to resign and throw the responsibility ou the Governi ment, It was suggested that Government should he asked to grant tho use of tbo now Police Barracks in Tory street for additional wards until the Hospital wns enlarged. The Government will bo again approached on the '■ matter,
