i_ Wellington Racing Club. The of tiio Wellington Raoing Club held a special meeting at noon yesterday to decide as to what action should bo tnken with regard to the nominations for the Summer Meeting, which had heen sent by the postal authorities to Dunodin by mistake, Mr J, Duthie, M.H.K., one ot the vice-presidents, occupied the ohair. After the Bubjtot had been duly discussed the following resolution was agreed to:—' That all nominations bearing the Wellington Post Offico mark of the 6th instant before 9 p.m., and which have been accidentally sent on by the Post Office officials to Dunedin, shall, under the circumstances, bo taken as having been received in due time, in accordance with the published programme,' It was also resolved that as tho letters and telegram mis-seat cannot be received back in Wellington before Wednesday, the handicaps, which aro due on that day, stall not be declared until Thursday. The nominations which have gone astray aro those of the Hon. J. D. Urmond, Messrs J. I'reotb, F, Hiley, K, McKenzio and J, Priugle.— I N.Z. Times.
The Johnaonvillo and Hutt County Trotting Club stewards will hold a meeting to-morrow evening to decide as to when and whore the enquiry shall be held into the identity of Prince 11., winner of tho Club Handicap and Spiing Handicap at the Club's recent meeting, The protestors are very sanguine that they will be able to prove that Princo 11. has no right to that title, and that he ia a well known trotter in disguiso. It is, however, underntood (says tho N. Z, Times) that there is no truth whatever in tho rumour that ho is either Brandy or Bob Gawn. DM, Annual Ming. Dunedin, January 9. At the annual meeting ot the D.J.C., the chairman, referring to tho loss mado during the year, said it was partly duo to bad woathor and partly to less money being spent by tho publio, but principally to the walking totalisators, Steps would havo to bo taken to put a stop to tho latter as they had the power in their hands, Somo members said it would be better to have the totalisator abolished than have it wrecked in such a manner. The report was adopted and tho re* tiring officers re-elected, It was resolved that negotiations he opened with tho owners of the Forbury racecourse with a view of securing the course at a reasonable price (L 28.000 being considered too much), failing which Bteps Bhould bo taken to secure a suitable course in another locality near tho city.
