News baa been received by. the Upolu, from Baftida, that the mail steamer Alameda, which left Auckland on Deqetnber 3rd, for San Franoieoo, • met with a tidal wave off the Kermadeo Islands on. December sth, Three * heavy sea's struck tho vessel. The .second came over tho bows with terrific force, and the obief bffiqer Mr Powdell, was carried along the deck and thrown; with such foroe against the davits that : both his legs'were broken; He received a severe shock to thp system; Mr Dowdsll was not landed at Apia, but wee taken on to B»n Franpiecoi
