Another Sunday Incident.
(to the editor). Sib,—"With the generosity you generally extend to the public in tbe interestß of justice and the commu» nity generally, I am compelled to iSing under your notice a most disgraceful Bcene which occurred within two chaiua of the Presbyterian Church at 0 p.ui. lost Sunday, Two wellknown individuals were having a pugilistic encounter, and to my utter disgust were stripped fortho occasion, and subsequently wore .heard by passers-by to use (I also, could not help hearing) the most filthy language that it could be possible to utter. In faot, females were horrified, and preferred to walk on the opposite side of the road.
May I ask, Sir, is there no protection for the public from bucli unbecoming behaviour. It is the duty, I presume, of tho police to maintain order, to protect tbe publioj but the question arises, tho; can't be in two places at once. Quite so, but when on outburst of such obscene language is to be beaid hull-way down Queen-street, I maintain that the police should be in the right place, at such a reasonable hour of the evening. you will insert the above ißlhe interest of the public's welfare, aB I am of opinion it is high time dome ■ stringent measure should be brought to bear on those giving expression to their feelings in such an ompbatic manner, moio particularly as Bucb language has been quite common of late in thiß locality.—l am, eto.i 2 . ■ . A Dibgusted Resident. Maßterton, December 20.,
[This is a matter in which the police ought to take action. Nodoubt their attention, being now directed to it, they will do their duty.—Ed. W.D. Tdies:
