ALFREDTON LICENSING BENCH.
Quarterly Meeting. The quarterly meeting of the Alfredton Licensing Committee was held in the Eketahuna Road Board office at 12 o'clock on Wednesday, December 7th, There were presont Messrs Anderson, (Chairman), Harding, McAnulty, Syverson and Saunders. Tho minutes of the last msoling were read and confirmed. The police report on tho five hotels in the district was read. No complaints wero made. An application was road from tho Hon, Secretary of tho Eketahuna Athletic Club asking for a permit for a publican's booth on the sports ground on Busing Day. It was proposed audsecoudedthat a special licence for a booth be granted.
After a lot of discussion some of tho Committee expressed a wish that tho request should not be granted, and the Chairman reminded them of the disturbance that happened on the grounds last year, how one of the presidents of tbc sports got a cut lip and another well known resident a black eye. Tho constable epoko at some length against it, and said that no less than nine offenders were brought before tho Resident Magistrate after last year's sports, A license was not required as the four hotels were so close to the sports ground. Tho proposition was put to. the meeting and lost by 3 to 2,
