General Committee Meeting. A General Committee meoting qfx the Maaterton Agricultural and Pas?*' toral Association was held on Saturday afternoon last at 3 p.m., the chair being occupied by the President (Mr Farquhnr Gray), MINUTES, The minutes of the last General Committee meeting were read and confirmed, CORRESPONDENCE. A letter was receivod from Alhorl Mortensen, of Maurioevillo, stating that he was not satisfied with the way in which he had been treated, and threatening proceedings unless his entrance money was returned, The Secretary explained that thcro was only one class in which the horse could have been entered, viz: the coaching stallion class, Mr Jensen ~ had had the matter explained to him and appeared satisfied. Ha knew no more until ho received the letter now before the meeting. It was decided to inform Mr Mortoneen that the Society is nnable to alter the judge's decision, and that the entrance mouoy could not br returned, BPEOUL MIZES, The Secretary was instructed lo write lo Mr Fitcbott, of Wellington, who acted as judge of vehicles at the lato Bbow, forwarding theCommittee'a resolution asking whether it was his intention that prizes should be awarded in certain cases where vehicles were highly commended, FINANCIAI, The statements of receipts and expenditure to December Brd, 1892, was read by the Secretary, showing assets V? £14517 a lid and liabilities£Bß7 lo"s ,4d. Mr Meredith said be would like to know exactly how they stood. Mr Lowes said that from the statement placed before them, providing all subscriptions and prize monies were collected, a credit balance of £SB would remain after settling liabilities, Mr Meredith said his reason - for ask. ing was that a paragraph had appeared in tho Wairarapa Star stating that after paying liabilities the SocieTO" would be £3O to tho good, (Mro. H. Gayfor) said he had not given any such information, . ; Mr Meredith moved the adoption of the Finance.' Committees recommendation that all account and prize money be paid, Mr Lowes suggested that a day be fixed for signing cheques. It was decided to Bign cheques on Wednesday the 7th inst. Mr Lettaßked if certain old accounts had been looked into, • The Secretary explained that all old accounts had been certified to with the exception of one for 80s ■", fromMrElkins.- .No one seemed to know anything abouUt. .. -. ;
THE NEW OROUSD, Mr D. Guild said the Ground Committee had decided to do nothing fur-. titer to tho now ground until the Aulunin. Mr Hessey thought the ground might bo let for grazing in the meantime. It was resolved toleavo theques.A lion of letting tho ground for grazing - v purposes in the bands of tho Ground Committer with power to aot, Tho Spcrcmry suggested tho advisability of keeping the improvements to the now ground in view if the Society intended holding the next Show on it. NEW RULES, A letter was read from Mr I Stuckoy, regretting bis inability to attend tho meeting, and stating his intention of moving that the financial year end on the 81st of December, and also that the nmni»l l?e" I ' ral meeting be on the same day as the annual Ram Fair. Mr Gray said ho intended calling two general meetings in succession " to confirm the new rules. No other business coming forward f"""' tho meeting adjourned.
