EKETAHUNA ROAD BOARD.
Special Meeting. A special meeting of tlio above was held in the lioad Board offico on Saturday, November 19. There were present: Messrs Parsons (chairman), Bayliss, Neilson, Anderson, and Dowsett, The principal business transacted was opening the tenders for road formation and metalling, The successful contractors were as follows Contract No, 80 and 81: McGill and Sparksman, price £2919s and 42s \(kr chain. Contract No. 82: M.Ryan, £195. Contract No. 53: Stewart and Gillon, price £lO4, A letter was read from Mr Hayward, of Parkville, complaining that a piece of land, originally intended as a road leading from Parkville to the Masterton road, had been sold to Mi' J. Neilson by the Connty Council, and asked that steps be taken by tbo Board to see what could be done in the matter,
Mr McAnulty waited on the Board and said that tbe ratepayers considered that it was a very important matter. They considered that the land had been stolen from them by the County Council, It was resolved that Messrs Parsons and Bayliss interview Mr J, Neilson on the subject. It was resolved that Mr Price be given perinifisiou to fall bush on two portions of tbe road line, in Newman, about 50 chainß at 8s b'd per chain, and that the North Road be metalled £j far as tho railway line, was proposed by Mr Anderson, and seconded by Mr Bayliss, that the Ekatahuna Road board express their surprise at the County Council for selling that piece of-land opposite Mr Mr J, Neilson's property, depriving the Parkville ratepayers of two roads,
