THE HALF-HOLIDAY MOVEMENT.

Napier; Thursday. The Borough Council last night rejected a petition declaring Wednesday ( as tho half-holiday,under theFaotoriea Act, for milliners, dressmakers, and taikesses. The police suggested to the Council tho advisableness of passing a bye-law closing billiard roomj not attaohed to hotels, at the same time as hotels, bnt it was found that the Council had not such power under the Act of 1886, though it bad, under the Repealed Act of 1876.
